These two lyrical emcees have a shared sense of responsibility when it comes to representing not only where they come from, but also bridging the generational gap in hip-hop. Bobby J From Rockaway (L, Queens, NY), and Hush (R, Detroit, MI) bring their influences and rap styles over sample-heavy hip-hop production by Hush.
Cut From The Same Cloth
Hush came up as an emcee/producer in Detroit's heralded hip-hop scene with heavyweights like Da Ruckus, Eminem, D12, Slum Village, and the legendary J Dilla. Garnering national attention, Hush eventually signed with Geffen Records in 2003 and released Bulletproof featuring Eminem, Kniva & Swifty of D12, Nate Dogg, & Talib Kweli.
Bobby began his ascent into the industry at the young age of 13 when he met "The Rhythm” rapper Kwamé, who at the time had begun his reemergence in the industry as a producer.
“Kwamé saw something early on & just took me under his wing. He coached me on how to make the transition into making records.”
Hush and Bobby hope they can gain new fans and followers through their mixed production bag of hip-hop which is not only an ode to the eras that birthed them, but also pushing lyrical boundaries the only way emcees from Queens & Detroit do. 🗽🚙
Looking to the Future
Hush & Bobby J are looking forward to the day that they are able to travel and bring the album "7182313" to a stage near you. Detroit & Queens will obviously be given "Home Sweet Home" performances, but both emcees are looking to bring this to the masses internationally as well.
